Replacement cushion fillings in Exeter

Bring the comfort back to your sofa

Tired, flat or unsupportive cushions do not always mean replacing the whole sofa. We make new interiors to fit your existing covers and help you choose the feel that suits you.

Keep the furniture you love

A new interior can transform the way your furniture feels

Seat and back cushions naturally change with use. If the covers and frame still suit your home, replacing the interior can restore their shape, comfort and support without the cost and waste of replacing the furniture.

We can make fillings for sofa, chair and scatter-cushion covers, including shaped pieces. Bring your cushions to our Exeter showroom and you can compare the options before deciding.

Made to fit your covers

  • Seat, back and scatter cushions
  • Standard or shaped covers
  • A choice of support and softness
  • Measurements checked before making

The heart of comfort

Choose the feel that is right for you

Every filling behaves differently. We will help you balance softness, support, appearance and the amount of regular plumping you are happy to do.

Feather

A soft, relaxed and mouldable feel. Feather cushions settle with use and need regular plumping to keep them evenly filled.

Best for: a deep, sink-in seat or relaxed back cushion.

High-density foam

A firmer, supportive option that keeps a clean shape and needs less daily attention than loose fillings.

Best for: supportive seats and a neat, tailored look.

Hollow fibre

A light, soft filling with a comfortable, cushioned feel. Turning and plumping helps it recover its loft.

Best for: soft back cushions and a feather-free feel.

Foam core with feather wrap

A supportive foam centre surrounded by a softer feather layer, combining shape retention with a more relaxed surface.

Best for: balanced support and softness.

Other options, including wool, may also be available. We will recommend the most suitable construction after seeing your covers and understanding how you use the furniture.

How the fillings compare

There is no single “best” cushion. The right choice depends on the support you prefer, the look you want and how much maintenance feels realistic.

For your initial quote

How to measure a cushion cover

Measure the cover rather than the old filling, gently pulling the fabric tight as you go. Rough measurements are enough at this stage.

  1. Width: measure seam to seam across the cover.
  2. Depth or height: measure seam to seam from front to back or top to bottom.
  3. Collar thickness: include the depth of the boxed edge.
  4. Shaped cushions: provide the longest dimensions initially.

Cushion filling questions

If your cushion or cover is unusual, send a photograph. Shaped and made-to-measure pieces are welcome.

Can you replace the filling without making new covers?

Yes. We make new interiors to fit suitable existing covers. We will check their condition, shape and measurements before making.

Do my first measurements need to be exact?

No. Rough seam-to-seam measurements are enough for an initial guide price. We will double-check the covers before the fillings are made.

Can I try the fillings before choosing?

Yes. You can compare available filling options at our Exeter showroom and talk through the level of support you prefer.

What if I have a feather allergy?

Let us know when you enquire. We can discuss foam, fibre and other feather-free options with you.
